We've got a three night run of gigs starting tomorrow night here in Norwich, one of which is at Norwich Arts Centre which has seen the likes of Nirvana and Tad, Hendrix and the Manics grace its stage (it was where Richie decided to carve up his arm for the NME). We're really excited about the gig as it's for charity and there will be over a hundred people there to watch us, plus the Arts Centre doesn't usually put on rock bands (think 'Jimmy's Pretentious Kazoo Experience' for the normal kind of bands that play there).
However, following a mysterious inflammation of the hi-hat foot, our drummer Greg has had to bow out of the stool for the grand eve so we are training up an unknown local sticksman to hopefully fill the seat and save the day. It's a tricky situation - play it safe and pull out of the gig, missing out on a big crowd, some great exposure and some much needed CD sales, or wing it with the new guy and hope we swim and don't sink in front of loads of people? Being the big-balled, never-say-die, silly buggers that we are, we're gonna try and make it work with the new guy and hopefully come out of our set unscathed and with our credibility still intact. We have a small local support slot tomorrow night for his 'live practice' before the charity show on Thursday so it's a bit of a trial by fire!
Rehearsal is in an hour and he has 3 hours to get our set down, it's like Challenge Aneka...fingers crossed. Hopefully the technical wizardry of 4/4 rock music won't prove too much of a challenge!
PS: We'll be filming the gig so hopefully will get some footage up on here for you to see :)
