So it’s been a busy few months, what with Weerd Science and all. Round that time I stumbled upon someone who played drums and was really into Session 606. I’d like to introduce our new drummer Bryan Mills into the mix. He’ll also be doing percussion and backing vocals.
This passed weekend we finally got a chance to track all of the instruments to 7 songs! A revamp of the songs up on the played, as well as some new tunes.
As i’m busy laying down vocals throughout this
season and welcoming 606 into a brand new year, I’ll be updating
frequently now that i’ve bought a video camera and have some new
equipment to mix on.
I put up a quick little video
featuring an acoustic rendition of “Division the Conqueror” all by my
lonesome, with some random otherness in there…And a preview of
“Nein-Nineteen” with Bryan actually drumming on it!
Anyways, excited as always to hear what you all think.
P.S.
Up in the player is yet another preview!!! I’m just stoked with these
recordings…the song is entitled “Our Colour Green II” …Dedicated to
someone very, very special in my lifetime.
Keep local music alive world! There’s only so much you and I can do by ourselves. Every person can make a huge difference.

This free digital sampler was compiled to give a glimpse into the diverse musicality that dwells in Hudson Valley, NY. New York is a vast state… there’s so much more to it than just the city. Here’s a bit that goes on from Westchester to Albany. Many many thanks to the musicians for taking part in this project and keeping the music alive!
Being a resident of the Hudson Valley my entire life (I’ve lived in Rockland, Westchester, and Ulster), I’ve always been interested in the thriving music scene (though before I discovered its existence I tinkered deeply in what was going on in New Jersey and on Long Island). The Hudson Valley has most famously birthed The Band, Steely Dan, Soulive, Shabutie / Coheed and Cambria, The Getaway / Matchbook Romance, 3, Jerk Magnet / Anadivine, Cooter / AutoPilot Off, Saul Williams, Jeff Klein, Hayden Panettiere, Pete Seeger, Jay Beckenstein, Chris Caffery, Gia Farrell, Matt Flynn and of course- the Woodstock Music Festival. The talent is strong here. Must be in the historically rich soil or something… because it’s ridiculous!
The idea for this sampler was inspired by the combination of the 10 year anniversary of Error 404 - Not Found compilation and the release of the “So Much For Us” book. Both archive the underground rock scene of Kingston/Woodstock in the late 90’s leading me to believe that I’m not alone in or crazy for feeling such passion toward the music to emerge from this area.
Most of these songs are unmastered. Some are rough mixes. Some are personal/basement recordings. One is live.
Remember,
***Apologies to the artists who did not make the compilation this time around. The feedback was so great, I could not fit everything that I received! I will most definitely be doing this again in the near future so if you’re still interested in inclusion shoot me an email missneesh [at] gmail.com
New Art Linton tune for Christmas! "Borderline".

New Orleans, LA - December 15th 2009-Louisiana native Dean Shoultz grew up in the heart of Cajun country. As a 12 year old boy and his spanking new guitar from Sears he could not resist the sounds that guitar legend Eddie Van Halen was producing. As time passed Shoultz went through different band members as a leader then decided to take some guitar courses from Berklee College of Music. Ever the steadfast student, Shoultz would accelerate his playing to another level with each successive lesson and continued playing in bands that eventually led to the musical heights attained on his debut solo release All The Pretty Horses on indie label Prime Time Music.
Shoultz released an album with his brother as part of the King Creole band titled Spiritual Democracy and it was not long after that he started thinking about doing his own album. Armed and ready with a battery of Melancon guitars and Mesa Boogie amps, Shoultz partnered with producer Pershing Wells. With Shoultz supplying all of the guitars, most of the bass and lead vocals on two songs, All the Pretty Horses was set to become a reality.
All The Pretty Horses kicks off with atmospheric sounds provided by an acoustic guitar then a piercing electric lead steps in to take you to musical nirvana, a scenario that becomes commonplace on this album. Dean's appreciation for the visionary Martin Luther King comes alive in the track "I Have A Dream" and FDR's famous D-Day speech gets a spotlight in "War" which is one of Dean's personal favorites.
Once rock enthusiasts give All The Pretty Horses a spin, the name Dean Shoultz will become synonymous with the word guitar hero and soon you will start hearing his name when discussing current and upcoming indie artists.
Dean commented "The songs started off with hooks and rhythmic patterns that came to mind, and we just expounded on that. But it's not mindless playing - it's more melodic in nature."
The guitar playing is beyond excellent on All The Pretty Horses and the technical proficiency that Dean displays on the recording is exemplary. Dean will continue to record more in the future while supporting the recording through a series of live dates in that will take shape in early 2010.

Rizing Sun Records has announced, the release of “The Party Train”, a new CD by ColdtrainBlues.
ColdtrainBlues combines the elements of great rhythm and blues, traditional blues, along with the fiery vocals and guitar work of Jeffery “Coldtrain” Colbert.
The Album brings back memories of the late great Johnny Guitar Watson, with provocative vocals and driving rhythms. The groups motto is “Funkin’ Da Blues” is more than a motto. With great guitar solos, that would make Eric Clapton, BB King, and all of the other great blues guitarists proud, this CD puts the rhythm in Rhythm and Blues and delivers a trainload of funk.
About the Jeffrey "Coldtrain" Colbert/Earl Foster Jr. Collaboration
Jeffrey "Coldtrain" Colbert was born in the great state of Nebraska, where he played and sang in his father’s church, giving him the deep gospel roots that are apparent in his playing and singing. During his youth he worked with all of the major blues and jazz groups passing through his home town of Omaha. Colbert finally realized that in order to realize his musical ambitions, he had to venture out, so he found himself in Southern Californiawhere his career hit a roadblock when he ran afoul of the law,. This experience left a bitter taste in his mouth, as he slowly saw his dream start to slip away. Because of the richness of those life experiences, these experiences in his life actually helped him. His playing became stronger.
In Los Angeles he met Earl J. Foster Jr. who was the leader of the ABC- Dunhill group Tribe, and
now CEO and President Of The Shampen Group. Mr. Foster heard Coldtrain play and approached him about, putting his musical talent out there for the world to hear. Having produced recordings for ABC Dunhill, MGM, Farr Records, Rizing Sun, and many more labels, Foster applied his expertise in writing, arranging and producing this remarkable work.
