I started writing this one Sunday, finished on Monday night, late
night, like 2am or so. Thinking of that Rev. Gary Davis tune and also
maybe The Stones "Beast of Burden" somewhere in the mix. Dedicated to
the late and great Adam Mewherter. Thanks for all your kind words and
brief friendship, Adam. I wish I'd gotten to know you a little better,
amigo. Ciao for now. Grace, mercy and peace to you and yours. Fly on.

Thorns On A Crown is the latest release from Kirsten DeHaan and on it you'll find 5 tracks of music that offer up a variety of styles.
Things get started with the track, "1984," a song that offers up a 60's alt. rock feel thanks to the retro-guitar parts that are found on it.
Track-2, "Double or Nothing," is a lively track that mixes just a touch of a folk edge in to its light rock beats.
Track-3, "The Night Shift," starts out as a melodic acoustic guitar song until the 2:20 mark when the drum beats instantly speed up changing the song's tempo.
Thorns On A Crown ends on a very high note with the songs, "I'm Coming Home," and "Ms. Daisy."
Track-4, "I'm Coming Home," is a harmonica filled track that gives off a folk-rock vibe. For me this song also worked best to showcase DeHaan's vocals.
Track-5, "Ms. Daisy" finishes things up nicely with its melodious sound that also highlights DeHaan's vocals.
Kirsten DeHaan has nice vocals that are very pleasant sounding and match well with the songs found on her latest release, Thorns On A Crown.

Rio de Janeiro - What before was seen like a bias, today is the reality. Some Brazilian artists of the new generation prefer to use the English to do their songs. This change at the market can be proved at the VMB (Video Music Brazil), an awards of the MTV Brazil, that elects the principal names of music. This year, some categories like Artist of the Year, Best Video clip and Revelation had musicians singing in English.
Actually, a new generation of musicians pretends to enter this list, the difference is that before travel around the world, they want to attract the Brazilian fans. Mallu Magalhães, Black Drawing Chalks, Holger e Mickey Gang sings in English and were indicated to the VMB. Most of them started at the independent market showing their sound at YouTube and My Space. The producer of VMH Studio, Eden, believes that the bands from the 80s until now had a bigger recognition at other countries, to later be known at Brazil. Today, the process is different: “The musicians sing in English here, than use alternative media to be known at their own country”.
Another band that is getting prepared to be part of this market is the Riverdies. The musicians writes their lyrics naturally in English, they say that is because they already feel familiar with the sound of the idiom. Besides that, the group has influences of international artists like Pearl Jam, Silverchair and Stone Temple Pilots. The decision to choose other language helped them to receive invitations to play at Europe and at the U.S.A, but the group don`t stop to play at Brazil.

Session 606 is the solo project of 21 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist/musical genius, Anthony Masington
Hailing from Feasterville Trevose, Pennsylvania - Ant Mas spent the first half of 2009 where the music lead him - Kingston, NY. There is where he began to record his debut. He found himself working with David "Wavis" Parker (original live Coheed and Cambria keyboard player + Weerd Science collaborator + producer) and inevitably ran into session drummer (and original Coheed and Cambria drummer) Josh Eppard. The three of them meshed so well, they ended up forming Mours. Currently that project is on the backburner while Ant is continuing to work on his record (unfortunately the files with Josh drumming on the Session 606 material has been absorbed in the ethers of small town hell) and while Josh is pursuing his sophomore Weerd Science release, Sick Kids. They continue to work together with Ant performing guitar live with Weerd Science.
Here's a bunch of the Session 606 demos:

and some videos:
Since the moment I heard his music I've been in love. It's truly beautiful, inspiring and natural.
