Taking place in the Netherlands from 14th – 16th January 2010, EuroSonic Noorderslag will transform the city of Groningen into a melting pot of Europe’s best new European talent, ready to be discovered by both music lovers as industry professionals.
Each year EuroSonic Noorderslag focuses on a particular European country featuring performances by the best artists and dedicating conference topics to its music industry. 2010 will be the year of Norway. With its vibrant music scene, Norway offers a wide variety of the best music, ranging from hard rock to pop, from indie-dance to Norwegian metal. Confirmed artists so far are: Audrey Horne, Bernhoft, Donkeyboy, Monolithic and Rockettothesky.

In addition to the Norwegian focus, over 200 bands from all over Europe are scheduled to play at the event, all hoping to impress the festival promoters and booking agents in the audience. Confirmed acts include; Agent Fresco (IC), Choir of Young Believers (DK), Deolinda (PT), Everything Everything (GB), Go Back To The Zoo (NL), Gösta Berling Saga (SE), Jasper Erkens (BE), Joensuu 1685 (FI), Lee Everton (CH), Lucy Love (DK), Moke (NL), Rigby (NL), Sliimy (FR), So I Watch You From Afar (IR), Svjata Vatra (EE), Tim Knol (NL), Waylon (NL) and Wickeda (BG).
As the exchange and support of new music in Europe is one of the main goals of EuroSonic Noorderslag, the special European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP) was introduced in 2003. Each year ETEP brings together the leading European festivals, radio and other media and stimulates them to ‘exchange’ a selection of artists. 2009 set a new record! 214 shows, with 75 European artists from 18 countries performing at 54 ETEP festivals in 20 countries. A grand total of 965 shows by 346 European artists since 2003. More information at www.etep.nl

Acts that have gone onto success and gain numerous festival gigs after performing at EuroSonic Noorderslag include; Blood Red Shoes (GB), Goose (BE), Kaizers Orchestra (NO), Lykke Li (SE), Pete Philly & Perquisite (NL), Seeed (DE), Yelle (FR) with the White Lies (GB) clocking up a massive fifteen bookings from ETEP member festivals.

“We didn’t feel any pressure at EuroSonic Noorderslag this year. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what job title each member of the audience has, they are still potential fans and still have the ability to be moved and excited by your music. The whole event is in the beautiful town of Groningen and has a great vibe that comes with all early shows in bands careers. It just so happened that after our show, some of the audience became fans and thus asked us to play on some of the festivals and shows that they book and that was very flattering. From that show we were allowed to discover some beautiful areas of Europe over the summer. Parts of Southern Norway, Sweden and even as far as the Czech Republic and Poland. We feel lucky to have played, and proud we won some new fans.” Charles Cave, White Lies (GB)

'EuroSonic Noorderslag is an important event for any band who wants to get gigging in mainland Europe. Tonnes of fun and seriously worthwhile.' James Yuill (GB)

"EuroSonic Noorderslag is one of those weird showcase things you do but feel uncomfortable about because it's crawling with music industry types and not many real people, a bit like SXSW. But much like SXSW, if you do a good job of it, you get some way cool stuff out of it. We found that we got offered a lot of good festival slots and started to sell out our Dutch club shows really quickly after doing it, so I reckon it was worth it. It’s also in a really fucking cool town." Blood Red Shoes (GB)

“It's quite simple: we made a car called De Staat, and EuroSonic Noorderslag was our ticket to the freeway. Sure, we've done our share of dirt roads, playing local bars and small festivals. People might have heard of De Staat, but EuroSonic Noorderslag really got the thing moving. While working on his debut album, LaKid Wise is releasing a promotional giveaway mix album titled “Enter The Movement” available for direct download on www.TheHipRockStar.com as of November 24, 2009.
“Enter The Movement” will feature original works such as “Hustler”, “Breaking Down” and various renditions and tributes to classics such as the late Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” and the Beatles’ “Yesterday”. America’s listeners have been waiting for something different to hit the airwaves. Although Hip-Rock had its years of rise with acts such as Limp Bizkit and Rage Against The Machine it has never stayed consistent with today’s top charts. It is a substantial challenge to revive this genre and keep it stable but this mixtape stands as a great starting point.

“Bringing two of the most influential genres together is not going to be easy but with the support of the people, anything is possible,” says LaKid Wise. “Music is universal. My work is about more than creating a unified sound. It is about sending a message."

LaKid Wise has been composing music since age eleven. Still rocking at twenty-one, he has drawn creative inspiration from the great artists we know in modern entertainment. From immigrating to New York City as a young child, interning at Roc-a-fella Records as a high-school student and releasing two independent albums in his teenage years, LaKid Wise is stepping outside of the box to redefine commercial music.

-###-

If you would like more information or to schedule an interview with LaKid Wise, please feel free to contact me directly at 347-782-5590 or email at Khaled.Ouaaz@Gmail.com

Notes For Life is a non-profit organization that raises money for charities that help physically challenged children. News 12 TV recently covered one of his monthly performances at the Carmen Road School on Long Island. With his unique skill, FiZ engages and involves the children in his songs as he sings directly to them there by created a large fan base. They wear FiZ T-shirts at every one of his performances and scream out his name. His goal is to create a spiritually healing effect. http://www.notesforlife.org/

FiZ and Notes For Life hosted the first annual benefit MUSIC AND MEDIUMS on November 11, 2009 at the West Sayville Country Club. All proceeds will go to “The Golden Fund for Autism.”

FiZ is in the process of creating a new FiZ TV project. He will be intertwining the arts with spirituality. FiZ will interview people who are making positive impact in the world. Whether it is a mother who supports her autistic son’s vocal abilities, a CEO of a company that is responsible for implementing fundraisers for people in need and anyone in the arts who make positive contributions to the world. FiZ TV is a platform for FiZ to discuss his music, spirituality, and other topics. The first two episodes feature FiZ discussing spiritual topics such as “The Secret” and “Law of Attraction.” On the next episode of FiZ TV, FiZ interviews a child named Anthony who is both blind and autistic. To see more shows go to http://www.fizband.com/fiztv.html

FiZ has acquired the tagline “PEACE.LUV.MUSIC.” to promote his vision of music as a way for healing people. FiZ says, “I have always associated rock ‘n roll with healing the world and playing a part of it. It was never separate. It was always connected.”

“D’Mattia’s album is a well-produced pop-rock album with some sick guitar lines and soulful vocals.” – Terence Edwards from DEMOLITION

“Whatever sleight of hand FiZ uses on the disc is magic. The songs are warm and filled with promise.” – Rikki Lana

“Motivated, engaging, exciting and above all, talented is how I would describe this up and coming musical visionary.” – Maria Bolaris from FOLK IT

Music has long been a part of FiZ’s life. At seven years old, when most kids are jumping around on playgrounds and watching cartoons, Tony D’Mattia could be found in a rocking chair, eyes closed, listening to The Beatles albums for hours on end. He envisioned himself becoming a rock artist and healing people with his music. As he got older, the prolific songwriter became familiar with instruments such as the guitar, keyboard, and mandolin. At age 12, he wrote the first of an estimated 1,000 songs. FiZ’s songs absorbed multiple genres from Motown to Rod Stewart to Led Zeppelin. For his brand new album, FiZ brought in former Wings drummer Steve Holly and veteran producer Bob Stander for collaboration. Stander bolstered FiZ’s natural gift for songwriting, a combination of stream-of-consciousness lyrics and songs based on self-imposed writing exercises. FiZ has recorded and self-produced two previous albums, Transcending and Right Where You Are. Throughout his music FiZ’s message is always spiritual, hopeful, and brimming with an eternal optimism.

For more info, interviews and CDs contact: Ellyn Harris, Buzz Publicity
Tel: 212-860-0500, Fax: 212-410-7353, e-mail: ellyn@buzzpublicity.com

Bethany and Rufus Roots Quartet's new CD "Live A Fip" - released in Europe - is a master collaboration between the group Bethany and Rufus (Bethany Yarrow and Rufus Cappadocia), Haitian Percussionist 'Bonga' Jean-Baptiste, and singer/flautist Yacouba Moumouni. The CD gets its name from the "Live A Fip" radio series, where they were invited to perform while doing a promotional spot for Radio France. The song "Iraq" is one that will touch your emotions, arouse your senses, and open your heart and mind to an experience beyond measure. Cappadocia's cello sings out, cries out, imploring you to listen. It is a very powerful track indeed, conveying the sorrow and plight of an impoverished, enraged land. The erratic, aggressive cello playing over soft acoustic guitar, gets the song's point across without uttering a single word.
Iraq by musicdish

"The level of musical brilliance reached by Rufus Cappadocia in "Iraq" left me speechless. His cello becomes reminiscent of mournful sorrow and wailing cry that extracts emotion like nothing else. This instrumental piece highlights both music and musician at their best..." Review by Jessica Wilson, MusicDish

Get Live A Fip: http://musique.fnac.com/a2741804/Bethany-Live-a-FIP-CD-album?SID=f961d11b-3168-38a4-c0f4-fe00907c12eb&UID=02B69E01C-E21B-2899-083D-BDF9B2BA74EA&Origin=RADIOFRANCE&OrderInSession=1&TTL=260420102002&PID=2

About this release: http://www.mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=123998

I started writing this one Sunday, finished on Monday night, late
night, like 2am or so. Thinking of that Rev. Gary Davis tune and also
maybe The Stones "Beast of Burden" somewhere in the mix. Dedicated to
the late and great Adam Mewherter. Thanks for all your kind words and
brief friendship, Adam. I wish I'd gotten to know you a little better,
amigo. Ciao for now. Grace, mercy and peace to you and yours. Fly on.
